Despite the advent of its visually marvellous successors- Windows Vista and 7, Windows XP is still hailed by many as the most stable and user friendly platform released by Microsoft. Even though it lacks the visual splendour of its successors, XP continues to be the most sought after OS of the times, thanks to its sheer efficiency and performance. And it could be rightly said that working on XP is not about having fun, but all about experiencing what a task-oriented computing platform should be.

Well, if you’ve installed a new copy of XP, you’ve to register it with Microsoft before starting off to explore its world. In this post, we give you a comprehensive account on how to execute the registration for a new XP OS.

Registering Windows XP

Windows platforms generally require the Activation and Registration processes to be completed immediately after the operating system is installed and running. And if you cross the 30-day limit without registering your copy, you shall be automatically terminated from using the OS. On the 31st day, your OS wouldn’t boot up and render your PC inaccessible.

And if you’re one of those unfortunate folks looking for the procedure to register your copy of Windows XP, you’ve knocked at the right door for assistance.

The Procedure

According to the Windows online support crew, the following steps are in order for registering your copy of Windows XP with Microsoft:

Windows XP

Begin by clicking on the “Start” menu. Choose “All Programs” from the menu, followed by “Activate Windows”.

In the subsequent window, click on the option that reads “Yes, let’s activate Windows over the Internet now“, followed by “Next”.

You may now click on the radio button “Yes, I want to register and activate Windows at the same time” in the window titled as “Register with Microsoft?“.

In the subsequent window titled as “Collecting registration data” , furnish the details such as your first name, last name, current address and city, state or province, postal code, country or region, and email address.

Click on the “Next” button, followed by “OK” to wind up the activation and registration processes.

The above account would surely prove helpful in registering your copy of Windows XP with Microsoft.

For any further assistance, do get in touch with Windows online support.

If you wish to safely operate your computer which is running Windows XP, you must make it a point to lock your computer whenever you are not using it. This keeps away people who are likely to tamper with it. It also helps to avoid accidental problems. If you lock your computer as soon as you step away from it, you should be aware of the steps which need to be followed in order to unlock it as soon as you return. Given below are the instructions that have been devised by the Windows XP support team in order to unlock Windows XP.

Instructions to Unlock Windows XP

You have to begin these instructions by first unlocking your computer. You can do this by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del. This pulls up the Windows XP Security box. Choose the Lock Computer tab. This will initialize your security settings.

While your computer is locked, it is said to be password protected and a security window is found to float on your screen. In order to unlock your computer which is running the Windows XP operating system, you have to return to your keyboard. It will not be possible for you to unlock your station wirelessly or through another person’s machine.

Windows XP locked

It is then required that you hold down “Ctrl+Alt+Delete” again in order to start off the unlocking process. The security window is observed to pop up with a message which says that the computer is locked and specific information is needed in order to unlock it.

After which, you need to type in your user name when you are prompted to do so.

Proceed to type in your Windows XP password. It should be exact so that you can unlock the security settings.

Finally, select OK once you enter your personal information. As soon as it is unlocked, your computer returns to the function that you were last using it for.

That brings us to the end of the instructions to be followed in order to unlock Windows XP with help from the Windows XP support team. Do not hesitate to contact the Windows XP support center if you need further technical support.

I hope this article has been of assistance to you.
